Working on Spotlight!

Sorry for a small update, but I wanted to push this out. I am currently working on the Spotlight text on the homepage. Currently I am coding it in with html per page, but as that could be tedious, I will work on making it a plugin for the website so it could be updated swiftly.
The text was taken from a YouTube snapchat from 2011, hence "Music "Tubesday With TACHT" is the Spotlight title"

I'll give out more information of the Spotlight and Email progress soon! Also if you couldn't tell, I've changed the blog's favicon to match the one of the actual YouVue website.

Emails are finally working!

So for awhile now, testing emails when certain events occurred (like account verification, video subscription, private message, etc) was impossible due to my complete lack of understanding with PHPmail() and because of that, I've never tested, or designed, the emails at all. Recently, I've linked my Google Mail account (I still say Google Mail deal with it) with the database to send the messages and finally got it working!

YouVue Verification email
I now need some help, if anyone who is reading this has been a YouTube member from 2010-2011 and didn't delete their emails, please get in contact with me so I can make the design for these emails more time period correct. Any progress is great progress.

Welcome Email after verification

Welcome to the YouVue Blog

Since I don't think I'm very good with blog posts, I'm just going to explain what YouVue is and it's history. For those who doesn't know, Hi I'm funnybone, and I developed YouVue. YouVue is a modern iteration of the 2010-2011 website style of YouTube. Originally, I wanted to name the website "YouView" as it fit the characters of the YouTube logo, but the domain was used by a different company, so I had to change it to YouVue. I also wanted to make the website style match the one of the 2012 era of YouTube, also known as Cosmic Panda. However, I couldn't get the formula correct, and I shifted focus to the 2010-2011 era, as I faintly remember it. The idea of YouVue start as early as late 2017, but actual development of the website started in 2018. The main reason I wanted to create my own version of the site was because of my hatred of the "modern" era of everything. YouTube isn't as fun as it used to be, with channel customization, and content itself. I started to use YouTube in 2012 and loved the style of the channels and website itself, but was outraged when the "One Channel Layout" was forced in 2013. This is my way of bringing it back.

Ok, enough history. Lets talk about features:

  • Full channel backgrounds (Suggested resolution is 1056x1492 but you can choose an HEX color if that's you're thing)
  • The return of usernames! (Multi-worded usernames are supported e.g: funnybone, thefunnybone, the funny bone)
  • No more video advertisements (Page ads are still here soz.)
  • Private messaging and friends
  • and Many more in the works!

I hope that I can finish YouVue soon so that anyone can try it out and enjoy it. I will be posting every now and then about updates to the website that I make.
